Alpesh Patel

President

Alpesh Patel has over 14 years’ experience in the field of pharmacy with strong skills in pharmacy business concepts.  He has earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Shri Sarvjanik Pharmacy College in India and is currently a licensed pharmacist in the state of Michigan. 

 

As the president of Benzer Pharmacy, he is responsible for overseeing core business management and development of the company including execution and financial management of all Benzer Pharmacies. He also offers technical knowledge as a pharmacist, and skill in managing a successful chain of 40 pharmacies across 8 states with 10 more pharmacies projected to open this year.

 

Alpesh has worked as a pharmacist with other chain pharmacies where he gained knowledge in pharmacy practice as well as valuable information about the business of pharmacy. A motto Alpesh strongly believes in is: "Every problem has a solution. It just takes effort to find the right one. Never give up!”

Courtney Griner

Pharmacy Director/ Executive Assistant

Courtney is both our Pharmacy Director and C-Level Executive Assistant. She is a registered pharmacy technician with over 9 years of experience and has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Arts from University of South Florida.

 

As a certified pharmacy technician (CPhT), Courtney gives an oversight as an Office Manager for Benzer Pharmacy.  Prior to this, Courtney was an instructor for pharmacy technicians at a Tampa College.

Robert Shatanoff - CPA

Chief Financial Officer

Bob is the Chief Financial Officer of the entire Benzer Pharmacy operation. He has over 25 years experience in accounting and tax including mergers and acquisitions. Bob has spent the last 12 years in the Healthcare and Pharmacy industry, bringing a wealth of experiemce to Benzer. He has earned his Master's Degree in Tax from DePaul University in Chicago and a Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University of Michigan.

Jatan V. Sheth (Certified Public Accountant)

Controller

Jatan is the Controller at Benzer Pharmacy. He has over 9 years of audit and assurance experience in various industries and over 3 years of experience working in the private sector industry.
 

His areas of specialization include experience in: audit and assurance, generally accepted accounting principals, Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404, internal control evaluations, housing and urban development audits and compliance, and implementations of new ASC topic 842 leases.
 

Robin Gonzalez

Assistant controller

Robin is the assistant controller. She has over 5 years of experience in corporate accounting including financial analysis, fixed asset accounting, small business consulting, and international audit.


She currently implements and manages processes and procedures for procurement, accounts payable and inventory management, financial analysis and fixed assets. She also oversees the analysis for those line items on the financials.

 

Robin has earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Phoenix and an associate of Science in Accounting from the Bellevue University.

John Cox

Operations Manager

John is our Operations Manager. He has over 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical work with vast experience with the major pharmacy chains in America.

 

John’s main role is developing an easy to use ongoing perpetual inventory ordering and control protocol that will enable us to maximize our effectiveness to serve our customers. Prior to this, he was operating the sterile compound department at one of America’s foremost cancer research facilities.

Emah Madegwa

Media and Public Relations Manager

Emah, is our Media & Public Relations Manager. She has over eight years of experience as an International Civil Servant with the United Nations, with vast experience in: public relations, media relations, strategy development, digital marketing and social networking. Emah's skill set features Writing, Editing, Content management, Web development, including (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP/MySQL), SEO, and Web analytics.

 

She has earned a Master's Degree in Project Planning and a Bachelor's Degree in Communication, both from the University of Nairobi in Kenya and is currently taking a Computer Programmer course. Prior to this, Emah worked as a communications specialist with the United Nations (UN).  

Carly Tietz

Acquisitions Manager

As Acquisitions Manager, Carly Tietz is in charge of physically growing the Benzer Pharmacy business by acquiring pharmacies and building pharmacies from the ground up. Carly has a team of professionals that help in this quest to make Benzer Pharmacy the #1 Independent Pharmacy Chain in the United States. Carly has an Associate's degree in Pharmacy Technology. 

Diana Calle

Human Resource Director​

Diana is our Human Resource Director. She has over 8 years of human resources​ experience including developing HR policies, employee relations, performance and record management, talent acquisition and staffing, employee benefits, compensation and training.

 

Her role in Benzer includes to oversee staffing and recruitment efforts, to ensure employment compliance with regulatory agencies, policy development, compensation and benefits administration, annual reviews, exit interviews, assist with payroll, monitor leaves of absences and employee accruals.

 

Prior to joining the Benzer team in 2012, Diana worked for Artsaics Studios for more than 10 yrs where she provided HR and payroll support. Before this, she worked at Jefferson's Ferry Retirement Community and this helped her develop her compassion for others.  

 

Diana is months away from earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She completed her training in Human Resources from eCornell University, and has earned an Associate’s degree in liberal arts and science.

Raul Mangal​

IT Manager

Raul Mangal is our IT Manager. He has over 14 years experience in Information technology, database management, business management, and call center development and management.

His role in Benzer includes to manage and service the IT infrastructure and network and he has developed the Benzer customer service call center team. Raul attended University of South Florida.

Jessica Connor-Torres

Purchasing / Product Marketing Manager

Jessica is our Purchasing / Product Marketing Manager. She has over 6 years of experience in Purchasing and Customer Service. Her role in Benzer includes overseeing supply chain management and procurement, maintaining records of goods ordered and received, locating vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, and interviewing them in order to determine product availability. She also reviews terms of sales, prepares and processes requisitions, purchasing orders for supplies and equipment and controls budgets for the purchasing department.

 

Jessica has earned an Associate's Degree in Office Administration Management.

 

 

Dolores Imlay

Contracting Specialist/PBM Relationship Manager

Dolores is our PBM Relationship Manager. She has over 2 years of experience with pharmacy contracting. As a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Dolores has a total of over 5 years experience in the pharmacy industry. 

 

Her role at Benzer includes initiating and maintaining PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Managment) contracts, coordinating CSOS (Controlled System Ordering System) setup for all locations, creating electronic funds transfer (EFT) reports for various accounts, initiating wholesaler accounts for all pharmacies, preparing insurance and liability bonds, following and reconciling underpaid claims.

 

Frank J. Pomarico

General Counsel

Frank is our General Counsel and has been with the company since April 2015.  He provides legal advice to all departments, handles internal administrative tasks, is the point of contact for outside law firms, and assists the company in its day-to-day operations. 

Frank earned a  Juris Doctor (J.D.) from St. Thomas University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Saint Leo University.

Wendy Cavanaugh

Clinical Coordinator / Compliance Manager

Wendy is a nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacy Regulatory Specialist with over 7 years experience in the medical field.  Prior to working in pharmacy, she was a Medical Assistant specializing in Cardiology, giving her a strong clinical background. As a clinical coordinator, Wendy oversees Medication Therapy Management (MTM), MedSync and Pharmacy Intervention Programs to improve patient adherence rates and Pharmacy Quality Metrics.

Wendy is passionate about compliance and makes sure all of our locations have everything they need to adhere to state and federal regulations.  She also focuses on Continuous Quality Improvement to ensure patient safety.

Rutva Nakarani

Clinical Coordinator & Prior Authorization Manager

Rutva is our Clinical Coordinator & Central Prior Authorization Manager. She has over 8 years of working experience in Management and Operation of Medical, Healthcare Regulation Compliance and Clinical Research. She has earned an MBA in Healthcare Management from University of North Alabama, USA & a Master of Pharmacy with major in Quality Assurance from Sardar Patel University.

 

Rutva’s main role is to develop & implement SOP for Prior Authorization Process & Appeal Process, to ensure compliance with FDA, HIPAA, HITECH & CMS and perform audits.  She acts as the Point of Contact for all Benzer Pharmacy locations and provides continuous education to Prior Authorization specialist(s) on regulatory compliance & drug information. In addition, she reviews & analyzes Clinical Study data, analyzes the EQuIPP performance reports and works closely with pharmacists for compliance with plan & improvements in the quality of medication use.
