- Do keep the sun at arm’s length. Too much sunshine can lead to sunburn—a proven cause of pain, stress, and subsequently, abnormal glucose readings. The CDC says, “Extreme heat can cause blood vessels to dilate, leading to low blood sugar,” so always use an ounce of prevention.
- Do “brush” it off. Among many well-known risk factors, gum disease is a leading contributor to spikes in blood sugar, as well as adding to the many possible complications of diabetes itself. Proper dental hygiene is essential for good health. Good breath is just one of many positive side effects.
